Tighten A Rivnut
To tighten a rivnut without a rivnut gun you can use the following procedure, but you will need access to the backside of the rivnut.
1) Press the new rivnut in place.
2) Attach a pair of vice grips to the rivnut to keep it from spinning.
3) Use a 3/8 bolt (short enough not to go through the side wall of the console). Put a washer on the end of the bolt to get a wide contact area.
4) Tighten down the bolt to pull in the rivnut. This will distort the rivnut and have it fill the gap to the hole.
