MilFact – Selling value in OPL dryers – it’s all in the numbers

• A dealer salesman recently flipped a consultant – and the specifications he wrote – on their ear by detailing dryer differences between Milnor and UniMac. See below:

Dryer spec’ed (UNIMAC)
200 lb.
Fan Motor: 3 hp
Basket Motor: ¾ hp
BTU’s: 425,000
Cfm’s: 2450
Amp draw: 14.0

Dryer spec needed (MILNOR)
200 lb.
Fan Motor: 7.5 hp
Basket Motor: 3 hp
BTU’s: 590,000
Cfm’s: 4200
Amp draw: 35.0

• The dealer salesman was able to demonstrate that the Milnor dryer had higher Btu’s, higher cfm’s, roller-wheel drive (not trunnion), had a larger basket motor, and a larger fan motor.

• Because this was a construction project, the designers could change other plans to accommodate increased electrical, venting and gas requirements.

• By planning for more productive dryers, this consultant was able to avoid carts of linen waiting to be dried at the end of each day at this upcoming laundry.
