SUBJECT: 30 Inch Models with Star Plate Bearings

Dear MILNOR Dealer/Customer:

Applies to machine models: 30022V6J, 30022T5X, 30022T5E, 30022C4E, 30015V7J, 30015T5X, 30015T5E, and 30015C4E.

It has come to our attention that from about April 19, 2012 through November 05, 2012 that all 30 inch machines (other than the 30022V8Z) could have an issue leading to the rear end of the bearing assembly not being secured to the star plate. This would allow the end of the bearing to move, which would in turn cause the front of the cylinder to move. This could allow the cylinder to strike the door bumper.

The situation is the tapped holes in the bearing assembly ears may not be tapped deep enough to accept the bolts. Thus the bolt would be tight against the end of the threaded hole but still not have the shoulder of the bolt seated against the star plate. As of November 05, 2012 (date code 12452), we have been correcting this at the factory by tapping the holes deeper in the bearing assembly ears.

If you have a 30 inch machine manufactured from 12166 through 12452, then contact parts and we will provide you 4 bolts (part number 15K047D) and 4 washers (part number 02 03476). Remove one bolt holding the bearing to the star plate and insert a new bolt with a washer. Torque that bolt to 110 ft-lbs. Repeat for the three remaining bolts. The washer will prevent the bolt from bottoming out on the tapped hole in the ear. If you suspect a machine earlier than this, you can still order the parts at no charge. Earlier than April 19, 2012, the machines used a shorter bolt.
