SUBJECT: ELECTRONIC START RELAYS FOR SINGLE PHASE

Dear MILNOR Dealer/Technician:

As you know, we have used two different types of single phase motor start relays in the past. One of these relays was our part number 09C064, which was a voltage sensitive motor start relay. Within the last five years, we began using solid state motor start relays which were current sensitive.

After implementation in production and spare parts sales, we realized that for a period of time, we believe in the 1960's, the motors supplied with the 35 lb single phase machines did not have the appropriate connections to accommodate the solid state relay. This prohibits use of the solid state relay in these machines.

Our vendor, Potter & Brumfield, has informed us that they are discontinuing manufacture of the 09C064 relays. We are allowed to make one final buy of these relays. When this new inventory is depleted, we will only be able to offer the solid state motor start relay.

We are asking for your cooperation in using these 09C064 relays in a very conservative fashion. If an 09C064 relay can be replaced by the electronic motor start relay, our part numbers 08G148KB20 or 08G105KB, we are asking that you make this change. In very few occasions will it be necessary to use the 09C064 relays for field failure replacements.

If you have any information regarding the applicability of the solid state relays on machines of a certain vintage, we would like this information. Please forward any comments to my attention.

We appreciate your confidence and support.

Sincerely yours,

PELLERIN MILNOR CORPORATION
