SUBJECT: DORRIS REPLACEMENT GEAR REDUCERS

First, I'd like to thank you for your help in meeting our customer's needs with your patience and clever management of situations in the field through the shortage of Dorris gear reducers in the last six months.

Our new vendor is successfully producing gear reducers that were previously produced by the Dorris Company. We have shipped a number of these into the field over the last six weeks and they have been successfully installed and are working well.

The flow of gear reducers into the field is still limited by the production capacity and engineering capacity of the new vendor as we have inundated them with a number of gear reducer models to quickly engineer and produce. So, the flow and shipment of gear reducers into the field is still monitored closely and we are supplying gear reducers to machines that are eminently down.

We are no longer in need of failed gear reducers from the field. We have received a number of failed gear reducers from some of you and our mutual customers which allowed us another avenue of gear reducer supply if needed. Luckily, we did not require rebuilding gear reducers in order to maintain a supply in the field.

A decision to ultimately offer rebuilt gear reducers to the field has still not been made as our vendor is working diligently to supply new gear reducers through their production channels. Until further notice, we will not require or accept failed gear reducers back for credit. We do thank you however for the quick attention to this need in the past. It may be best to not discard failed reducers at this point but instead wait for the future policy on rebuilt reducers.

Some gear reducers from the new vendor are delivered to us in quantities which allow stocking the field. Your MILNOR Parts representative can inform you of these part numbers as you require this information.
