SUBJECT: BATTERY BACKUP BOARD

Dear MILNOR Dealer/Customer:

When first released, the serial MILTRON microprocessor board mounting provided a battery backup board mounted above the processor board and other electronic components in the MILTRON.

Reports indicate a number of batteries have leaked onto these boards (mounted below the battery) which caused board failure.

We ask that you take the preventive measure of moving the battery board to a location below the other installed boards (at the bottom of the MILTRON) so that if the battery leaks acid, this acid will not leak onto the other boards. You can do this by simply extending the wires between the processor and battery board. DO THIS WITH POWER APPLIED TO THE MILTRON (be sure not to swap the leads) so no data loss occurs. (A capacitor on the processor board should protect any data loss, but power applied will guarantee no data loss.)

Please take this action immediately to avoid any problems with this potential failure.

Best regards,

PELLERIN MILNOR CORPORATION
