SUBJECT: ELECTRONIC BALANCING AND 2-SPEED E1 FOR 64042 WASHER EXTRACTOR ELECTRONIC BALANCING FOR THE 72044 OPEN POCKET WASHER EXTRACTOR

We are pleased to announce that through engineering research and the application of emerging technologies, we have developed a balancing system for open-pocket washer extractors which provides enhanced performance for new machines with this feature and existing machines in the field. Retrofits are available for electronic balancing (on 64042 and 72044 open pocket) and 2-speed E1 motors (for 64042 washer extractors only) as detailed below.

The electronic balancing retrofit is available for $1,250.00 (list). This retrofit is offered at a reduced cost to the customer to enhance the performance of the 64042 and 72044 open pocket machines.

The 2 speed E1 motor retrofit (for 64042's only) is also available for $1,250.00 (list). We recommend that any 64042 washer extractor retrofitted with electronic balancing also be retrofitted with the 2-speed E1 motor. The enhancement in performance is significant. The combined retrofit cost for the 64042 is $2,500.00 (list).

Benefits for electronic balancing include a high performance balancing system which should balance approximately 2/3 faster than the previous style mechanical balancing system. In addition, the system does not require any preventive maintenance to the balance sensing unit or the position indication system. Early detection of heavy out-of-balance loads, which would not be able to be balanced prior to high extract, allows the machine to abandon an extract sequence early, saving approximately 1.5 minutes of cycle time in the event of a course balance.

2-speed E1 retrofits available on 64042 machines only allow a smooth transition to extract speed. Low speed E1 allows the machine to accelerate to approximately 120 RPM, which is slightly below resonant frequency of the mechanical design. This enables a large out-of-balance to be accelerated while prohibiting a shell impact. After balancing takes place for approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute, the machine is then allowed to accelerate to approximately 250 RPM using the high speed winding of the low extract motor. When low extract time is satisfied (approximately 1.5 minutes), the machine is then allowed to enter high extract with no further balancing needed.
