SUBJECT: HOW TO SHAKE OUT THE SAND IN WALK-OFF MATS

Dear MILNOR Dealer/Customer:

One of our field engineers has developed a procedure to shake sand out of mats prior to a washing cycle. In general, the basket is run for 1 minute with no water. Next, the sump is flushed while the basket is stationary.

Two microprocessor control types are currently operated in the field - Mark I and Mark II. Mark I machines use software date codes 86417 and prior. Mark II machines use date codes 89000 and later.

Our Mark I microprocessor control did not allow a "straight forward" way to accomplish the mat "shakeout", so we use a "cooldown" step to accomplish the "no fill" bath. We have attached a formula worksheet which details programming of the first 2 steps of a mat formula utilizing our "shakeout" procedure.

Note: The Mark I machine must be configured with cooldown in order to use this procedure. For machines that have the cooldown option installed, the manual cooldown vernier value must be closed to prevent water from entering the shell.

Mark II machines allow a bath with "no fill" for use in this formula. We have also attached a cop of Mark II formula worksheet for your review.
