SUBJECT: CBW INTRA-MODULE SEALS, CHAIN LUBRICANT, OILER NOZZLES

NEW SEAL:
We have developed another intra-module seal for use in the G2 and G3 CBW's. Currently, the seal between any two modules is a "flap" seal which is bolted in a bolt ring on the entry side of a module group. Over time these seals become deformed by chemical attack and heat and begin to weep water past the seal and out of the module via the drip lip. When the weep is severe, the water may splash on the chain.

The flap seals require a number of hours to replace. We have found most recently that some of the fasteners which hold the seal to the entry ring have broken when we tried to remove the old seal. Since these fasteners are extremely difficult to replace, we've taken a new approach to sealing this joint.

The picture below shows what we call the "six-rib seal" which we have implemented in a few laundries around the country. We find that if the original flap seal is left in-place acting as somewhat of a "breakwater", this new seal finishes the job by closing the gap between the drip lip and the male extension of the previous module. Some water may still drip, but the chain is protected from the splash.

The good news is that this seal only requires a short installation time. We have installed one in the factory in approximately 15 minutes. We figure with cleanup time prior to installation, a field installation could take about 30 minutes. The new six rib seal is offered within kit number KTWDRIPR04. The kit sells for $158.63 and is used in a quantity of 1 between each module section.


NEW LUBRICANT:
In addition to this new seal, we also have been field testing a new style lubricant for the chains. This lubricant molecularly attaches itself to the metal components of the chain thus prohibiting wear. The result is longer chain life. The lubricant is more expensive than normal oil, however the benefit of chain life is far reaching both from a chain replacement cost and labor maintenance perspective.

The oiler on your CBW must be adjusted to dispense less lubricant than the previous oil that was used in your automatic chain oiler. The viscosity of the new lubricant is lower and thus atomizes easier than oil. The lubricant is our p/n 20H000A and is sold in 5 gallon pails for a cost of $160.00.

NEW OIL NOZZLE:
We've also introduced a new style nozzle which tends to push the lubricant in a more directed application to the chain. The oiler nozzles that were used in the past were intended to make a "fog" of oil around the chain. The new nozzle specifically "shoots" oil mist in between the roller and the side plate of the chain. We recommend that you include an implementation of these new oil nozzles whether you implement the new lubricant or not. The oiler nozzles are kit p/n 27E790D and sell for $40.32 each.
