The factory uses a 20 ton ram at 3000psi to press on these parts. This is a hollow bore ram and has a bore of 1 1/8". Instructions are included in the kit of special tools, part number KZIGRCL001.

SUBJECT: CLUTCH HUBS & BRAKE DRUMS

As many of you know, we've struggled with loose air clutch hubs and brake drums over the last few years. We do not find any machining defects with these parts, though we now speculate that if these tapered parts are not installed with hydraulic pressure, we may have a problem in the future with the taper coming loose.

I honestly cannot explain why we have seen tapers come loose after being in service for as many as 5 years. However, we know this to be the case and have been proactive by pressing these components onto the shaft hydraulically.

Most of you utilize a porta-power with a hollow bore ram to press baskets on shafts and assorted other uses. We have made a tool to press on both clutch drums and air clutch hubs onto shafts. This required a couple machine parts which we have developed and now offer to you at our cost to manufacture. The tool requires a 1" hollow bore ram.

The two parts are sold under kit KZIGRCL001 at a net cost of $100.00. Instructions for use are also included with the parts.

I would think that each of your service technicians that does this job on a regular basis needs these parts.
