SUBJECT: DRYERS SCORCHING MATS
We've had a few complaints of gas dryers scorching mats.
We have found sand impregnated in the AUTOLINT screen which has reduced air flow in the dryer. In some cases, "flame lick" was obvious and mats were damaged. The AUTOLINT screen is evidently difficult to clean after being impregnated. One example showed Teflon coated screens which proved impossible to clean effectively. New screens were installed in this case.
In the event you hear of scorching problems on mats, please immediately check the DRYVAC screens, if equipped, and recommend cleaning first. If cleaning is not effective, replace the screens.
Best regards,
