Filling The Tank

Filling the hydraulic oil tank.
We have seen a number of customers fill the hydraulic tank with the ram down. If you've done this, you're quite familiar with what happens when the ram comes up. Twelve valuable employees begin mopping up 25 gallons of oil off the floor and from everywhere else.

We want to offer this word of caution:
DO NOT FILL THE HYDRAULIC TANK WITH THE RAM DOWN!

We would expect that the hydraulic system may need an addition of oil only to accommodate a minor leak around the bottom of the ram. Obviously, whatever oil comes out of this area needs to be replenished with fresh oil in the tank.

It would be our advice to let the press alert a low oil condition and then refill the press, with the ram in the up position, to the desired level.
