If there is a point of the diaphragm that is experiencing a high point load of stress cycle after cycle, then that point of the diaphragm will fail before the rest of the diaphragm fails. If the diaphragm can be rotated so that the stress is distributed over the entire circumference of the diaphragm, then the diaphragm should last longer. Milnor Single Stage Presses now come with a patented ratchet mechanism. All new presses leaving the factory are equipped with this innovation. This innovation can also be retrofitted to any Milnor Single Stage Press that is currently in operation. The attached files show how to install this kit to an existing Single Stage Press.
