With the DEMAG DC Pro hoist, there is a Light Emitting Diode (LED) display that will display information regarding the hoist's operation. This information includes operating hour counter, status display and an error code display. The following explanation on what the various symbols mean may help you to better understand the operation of your hoist. See the attached manual for how the symbols for each message will display in your LED display.
Warning Messages are called LIGHTNING messages
Message 1. Slip Lifting Start-up means Clutch slip was detected at initial startup during a lifting motion.
Message 2. Slip Lifting V1 means Clutch slip was detected after initial startup during 1st speed (slow speed) with a lifting motion.
Message 3. Slip Lifting V2 means Clutch slip was detected after initial startup after speed has moved from V1 (slow speed) to V2 (fast speed) with a lifting motion.
Message 4. Error In Internal Data Memory means your data is corrupted with the controller microprocessor of the hoist. You will probably need a new controller card.
Message 5. DOES NOT EXIST.
Message 6. Hardware Monitoring Fault No Speed Information means there is a no input from the encoder to the controller card while the chain is moving. The encoder is located on the controller card. The controller card is probably bad.
Message 7. Slip Lowering Startup means Clutch slip was detected at initial startup during a lowering motion.
Message 8. Slip Lowering V1 means Clutch slip was detected after initial startup during 1st speed (slow speed) with a lowering motion.
Message 9. Slip Lowering V2 means Clutch slip was detected after initial startup after speed has moved from V1 (slow speed) to V2 (fast speed) with a lowering motion.

Some Common Error Messages you might see in a Milnor application are:
No. 1 means the Chain Hoist is blocked due to a Hardware error in the Control System. You will probably need a new control card.
No. 2 means the Chain Hoist is blocked due to a Speed Measurement Failure. Possible causes include a bad brake. The Brake should be disconnected and try to move the hoist. If it does, then replace the Brake. The Chain could be fouled. Check the chain for any obstruction. There could be an encoder problem which would require a change of the control card.
No. 3 means Chain Hoist is Blocked because the direction cannot be switched. An input is still made for a direction when another direction is being called for.
No. 4 Load >160% is being lifted. This indicates a slipping clutch. See the Demag Hoist manual for how to adjust the clutch if it is slipping. Be careful not to over adjust the clutch. You can brake the chain if the clutch does not slip against too heavy of a load.
No. 5 Switch Off in the Upper End Position means a limit switch is still made when coming off the upper end position. These contact limit switches are replaceable.
No. 6 Switch Off in the Lower End Position means a limit switch is still made when coming off the lower end position. These contact limit switches are replaceable.
No. 7 No lifting and No lowering and the Display is Dark. Check the power to the hoist. If power to the hoist is good, then internal power supply of the hoist has failed.
No. 9, 10, and 11 means an input was sensed while the unit was initially powering up. Check the directional inputs to the hoist to see which one is activated.
No. 12 No Lifting. Possible causes are a phase to the motor or locked rotor amps.
No. 13 No lifting with a load. Possible causes would be an under voltage condition leading to low torque output of the motor or the hoist could be overloaded with goods.
No. 14 Fast Lifting with Load is switch off. Possible causes would be too much goods on the shuttle.
No. 15 No Lowering. Possible causes would be a loss of phase to the motor or locked rotor amps.
No. 16 Lowering with Load is Switched Off. Possible causes include the lowering speed sensed is too high.
No. 17 Lowering is switched off, lower end position is not reached. Possible causes include the chain is blocked. Check the chain for an obstruction and replace as necessary.
No. 18 No load motion sensed while lifting. Possible cause is the drive is blocked. Possible cause could be a bad brake assembly or speed encoder.
