Long Term Storage

Information about long term storage of machinery.
Applicability: Any machinery

The following precautions should be taken when storing machines for a long period.
1. Loosen any drive belts.
2. Fill gear reducers to the top with the appropriate oil.
3. Drain steam coils.
4. Drain pumps.
5. Coat all unpainted surfaces with grease or Cosmoline:
Examples:
- drive shaft of CBW
- drive and support shaft of dryers
- chains and sprockets of CBW
6. Add dessicant to control boxes where any electrical parts are located.
7. Verify the integrity of the original shipping wrap and add an additional layer of 18 oz. vinyl coated nylon tarp.
