EP Express hot water valve circuit missing snubber
Dealer Bulletin related to missing snubber on hot water valve and intermittent control behavior
Bulletin release Feb 3, 2011
Dear Milnor Dealer,

We have for a few years dealt with intermittent controller issues on the EP Express equipped machine line.

We investigated multiple machine installations where you or your fellow dealers could not resolve intermittent stopping problems. These issues are normally reported in customer comments like "the machine stops randomly while running a cycle" or "the machines is found stopped and the display reads 'please wait' and is counting down".

In many cases a power supply or board connection issue is questioned or manipulated by a local user or tech as there is no apparent problem when your technical staff gets to the site.

We recently undertook a review of the wiring harnesses and made some changes that should result in better noise immunity of the controller. Indeed the reports from the field where these changes were made were positive and we implemented the changes in production.

During the follow-up we still heard some issues but the frequency was much reduced. We looked harder and discovered that a component on the EP Express processor board was improperly located. The part was a snubber (a cap and resistor network that helps diminish noise from inductive loads) and the hot water valve circuit was missing the component. This possibly affects processor board part numbers 08BH18EPXS, 08BH18EPYT, 08BH18EPWT, 08BH18EPYZ, 08BH18EPWZ with production dates as far back as 2004.

Now the remedy
